The season’s fourth tropical depression has formed in the Atlantic Ocean, the National Hurricane Center announced at 11 a.m. today.
The well-organized system is about 1,050 miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands, west of Africa.
For the moment, maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph, but center meteorologists say the depression could become Tropical Storm Colin overnight tonight or sometime Tuesday.
Most computer models used by the hurricane center to forecast the probable path of a storm show it moving north through the Atlantic.
